The caper plant is a shrub that grows spontaneously on rocks and has simple leaves, pinkish flowers and
oblong berry fruits.
When harvested, they have a deep green color.
The buds, called capers, and the fruits, known as cucunci or caper fruits, are consumed of the plant.
Both are preserved in oil, vinegar or salt.
Origin from the Mediterranean basin.
The properties are different including: diuretics, anti-inflammatories, anticancer.
They are used a lot in cooking with meat and fish, in salads and in first courses.
